Even if it was the most stable pathway, that doesn't mean much when you have a few hundred pounds of injured mutant snapping turtle trying to haul himself up it, ninja-grace notwithstanding, busted ribs in danger of just floating around inside his shell at the first slip and tumble back down the pile.
They make it up somehow, anyway.
