[Being core members of the Voltron coalition meant that sometimes the team had to spread their forces thin in order to take care of everything that required their attention. Sure, they had other allies who could hold their own -the Blade of Mamora for example- but it had a little more impact if the paladins themselves saved a colony or planet, as opposed to more Galra.

In other words: politics.]

I mean, I understand what Coran was saying but I still think it's kinda dumb, right Keith? [Undeterred by Keith's noncommital 'uh huh's and 'yeah's, Hunk continues on as he follows Keith's lead and slows down his approach. They're going to have to try and sneak up on this installation or risk the Galra retaliating against the captured techs for calling for help.] They've been around way longer than we have, and fighting for way longer too! It kinda feels like we're shoving them out of the way to get all the glory. Not that that's what we're doing, but it sure feels like that's what we're doing. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter who gets the job done so long as the people are saved, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Right? Do you have a bad taste in your mouth too, Keith?

[Keith sort of freezes when Hunk touches at his jaw. Because this is what he meant, an actual real dating people kiss. It's sweet and chaste, and he leans into it until Hunk pulls away.]

...Yeah. Yeah it is, I guess.

[But. Now that Hunk's pulled that band-aid off, Keith has no reason to hold back. He's wanted to do it for a while but felt he wasn't allowed.

Now he is.

He pulls Hunk back in for another kiss, a little deeper but still sweet. Not going too far not wanting to make Hunk too uncomfortable.]

[OH NO!!!! Keith is taking charge and being all cool!! Heck. That makes Hunk swoon a little bit, especially when Keith presses into it and he only barely suppresses a giddy giggle because he remembers how he'd hurt Keith's feelings before.]

Unfair. Are you good at everything?

[Okay, that giggle gets Keith smiling. He's glad he can get that kind of reaction when he means to.]

I'm not. I'm terrible at singing. And essay portions of tests.

If you're talking about Instructor Gaelin's tests, I promise you it wasn't you. He was just a jerk. [Can he kiss Keith again? Really quick? IS IT CONSIDERED MAKING OUT IF IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF SHORT CLOSED-MOUTH KISSES....]

[Oh man he could get used to this. He didn't realize how touch-starved he was until right now with Hunk giving him so much attention. When Hunk pulls away again, he's grinning from ear to ear.]

[Look at that, Keith's like, leaning into him every time he touches him.

Hunk reaches up to cradle Keith's face in his hands, his hands big enough to cover both sides of his jaw and halfway up his cheeks. He strokes over his cheeks with his thumbs curiously.] You like this, huh...?

Um.

[Oh. That's such a minute change, but it's enough to get his attention. He can feel his face getting red but for the life of him, he can't stop it.]

It's-- It's nice. [Yes he does please don't stop Hunk]

[......geez, keith's pretty]

Your skin's like, crazy soft, man. Did you know that? [Strokes over the swells of his cheeks with the pads of his thumbs, his own face flushing a little]

Um. No, I didn't.

[He leans into the touches, rests his hands over Hunk's.] Your hair is really soft too.

It's in my genes, [Hunk says proudly, though he's going a little deeper red at that.] You totally wanted to touch my hair that night with the campfire, didn't you?

What. [His eyes go a little wide, a kid caught with his hands in the cookie jar.]

I-- I thought you were asleep.

[Not denying it though!!! just don't call him on this!!]

I was! Well- mostly, ish, kinda mostly. I sorta just felt something move my hair a little, and I was sleepy so my brain was like, what was that? And then I remembered you were right there so I guess I just kind of assumed it was you and went to sleep. Which, y'know, was much better than thinking it was some kind of space rat or monster toad or whatever else was in that jungle.

[Oh god did he just incriminate himself??? Shit. His whole face is red now and he can't exactly get his eyes to focus on Hunk's face. It's too embarrassing because of course it was that obvious that it was him.]

Y-yeah. Yeah better than thinking that. I just... Wanted to do that. [It's what he sees most normal couples do anyway.]

And, I mean, if we're being honest, Iiiiii kindawantedyoutotouchmyhairanyway, so y'know, all's well that ends well.

[Well, that's all he needs. He'll take it as permission, reaching his hands from Hunk's hands to his hair, threading the ends between his fingertips. It's as soft as he thought it was, now running fingers through it.]

I agree, it's nice. What else did you want to do?

[THAT FEELS REALLY GOOD ALSO HE'S SO NERVOUS] Oh geez, I dunno. Wow that feels good. Could we maybe get to like a couch or a bed or something and just kind of hang out? Do more of this?

Oh. [He tugs at the ends of Hunk's hair a little before he moves to get off the table.]

Yeah- Yeah, let's go. Common room?

Soft pass. [Backs off to give Keith room to get down] Lance will be there and will probably not leave us alone. [Look he loves Lance, he's one of Hunk's best friends, and that's why he can say that if Lance is in a room, Lance demands everyone's attention and he and Keith won't barely get a single cuddle in edgewise.]

[He keeps one hand on Hunk's arm while he thinks. If not the common room then... There aren't a lot of options they're aware of. There is an entire fucking castle they haven't explored, and he figures the training room is out.]

Thennnnn maybe w just find somewhere?

[He's not about to suggest one of their rooms but.]

Yeah, like my room. C'mon. [HUNK HAS NO PROBLEM SUGGESTING IT don't worry]

[OH GOD HUNK JUST WENT THERE. He's a little dumbstruck and nods.] Yeah. Okay, yeah. Your room.

[HE WENT THERE AND TOOK PICTURES]

Ohmygod, Keith, I'm not like- asking for your hand. [OR VIRGINITY] It's just so we can have privacy!

[YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ASKING HUNK!! ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN!

All the same, his face is red.]

Okay! Okay, then. Let's go. [To hold hands and make out and definitely not do anything else.]

[He's just gonna!!! Just gonna take Keith's hand and lead him to his room, though Keith knows where it is by now, just because if he doesn't do something he's going to lose his nerve. He wasn't nervous before but Keith is nervous now and Hunk is nervous through osmosis. THERE'S NOTHING TO BE NERVOUS ABOUT!

...oh, but,] Uhhh, did you wanna change first? [Stops outside of Keith's room.] Since we're in these, like. Things. [Plucks at the healing suit.]

[...Admittedly, he'd forgotten. They were so comfortable and a little distracted. But the more Hunk is nervous, the more nervous Keith gets and it's a bad cycle.]

Yeah! Yeah, let's change first. Probably not good to hang out in these. Come on.

[He should still have clothes laying around somewhere in his room, it'll be fine. They'll be fine.]
