Well, it isn't like this is the first time he's asked odd questions. "Yes. For efficiency and the safety of their vessel, a malak is required to listen at all times to avoid forcing an exorcist to repeat an order."
Even if it wasn't required of him, what else is he supposed to do with his time? With that pulsing restraint in his mind and his soul tethered... what else is there?
