[ Aerith is quiet as she takes care of Zack, washing his face and his hair, mindless of her cloths, checking on his wounds and double checking them, wondering if she had enough magic and if the potions were enough. She doesn't quite feel as though she has the strength to be a proper nurse and she feels the guilt rise up inside of her, not being good enough to help him when he needed her the most. He had always been there for her, hadn't he?

The last few years don't count. She doesn't know that story.

At first, she misses when he first moves. She thinks it's a trick of the light. But when he coughs, a quiet, hoarse noise, Aerith's eyes widen and she leans down, gazing at him. She doesn't dare to hope that he's really waking up, but there's no denying the shift of his body, the way he moves, the way that his eyes are flickering, and she feels her own welling up with tears.

He's waking up, and he's going to look at her, and she's going to smile and it'll be okay.

Heart racing, Aerith cups his face gently, stroking against the damp side of his cheeks where she and Cloud had taken care of him. She breathes out and leans down, trying her best not to break down and cry. ]

Zack... You're waking up, aren't you?

[ Her hand slips back into his hair, brushing it from his face. Long, hm. ]

You're home.
