[ As soon as Cloud leaves, Aerith feels as though she might break.
Her fingers run over Zack's body gently, feeling out the wounds, testing the bandages, checking him over and wondering what to do. Her eyes are damp and her hands are shaking and she feels like she might fall apart, but her stomach is in knots and she's finding it hard to breathe. She wants to figure herself out, to lean down, to hold onto him, to never let him go until her strength has passed through onto him and Zack opens his eyes and smiles at her.
She's missed his smile, his laughter, the way he shook his head, ran his fingers through his hair, the shrug of his shoulders... ]
Zack...
[ How is she meant to survive this? She feels as though her body is going to break under her, and she shifts, kneeling behind him so that she can get his head on her lap. He's still breathing, at least, even if it's slow and uncertain, and she swallows, bowing her head. ]
You can't leave, okay? You can't go anywhere, not again. You're not allowed, and that's an order! I don't - I don't care about anything else. All my wishes and my letters... None of those matter, okay? None of it matters as long as you come back. Do you understand? Just... Just come back.
[ She's still sitting that way when Cloud comes back, potions dropping at her side - and she's reaching for them before she can even hear what he's saying, fuzz in her ears and a buzzing making her feel numb. She has to force herself to breathe and when she does she manages to find the words to reply. ]
In - in the back. There's a small bathroom, there's a sink in there.
[ It's hard to focus on Cloud when Zack is right here, and it's more important to tend to his hurts than it is to worry about herself. ]
